Social Emotional Learning

"Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions."

There are many different types of SEL programs and it is an essential aspect of all successful organizational cultures.  I am not just talking about schools though; all human service providers (all humans really) are in need of ongoing social emotional learning.  All throughout our lives we have new experiences to integrate into our personal and shared narratives; the skills of SEL help this journey to be happier, healthier and much more authentic.
